From news restrictions to IP rules, here are the most common reasons traders get their payouts denied — and how to stay safe. Always test your numbers in our live calculators below to ensure stop loss distance and maximum drawdown buffer remain compliant.
1. The 2-Minute News Bracket Rule
Many firms prohibit opening or closing positions within 2 minutes before and after high-impact economic calendar events (CPI, FOMC, Non-Farm Payrolls). Any profit earned during this window is deducted from your balance.
2. IP Address & VPN Account Flags
Trading from shared Wi-Fi (such as coworking spaces, universities, or mobile hotspots) can trigger fraud alarms if another trader accessed the same broker server from that IP. Always use a dedicated connection or VPS.
3. Minimum Trade Duration (Scalping Bans)
Some firms require all trades to remain open for at least 30 to 60 seconds. Trades closed in under 30 seconds can be labeled as latency arbitrage and disqualified from payouts.
Firms featured in our Tier 1 recommendations are verified to have clear, straightforward rules without predatory withdrawal denial clauses.
Prop Firm Payout Calculator
Trader payout is calculated by multiplying gross trading profit by your profit split percentage (e.g. 80% or 90%) minus any wire or platform deductions. The remainder goes to the prop firm.
